L’Ambroisie Halloween Theme Wedding/Mariage – M & D

At l’Ambroisie, last October, I had the chance to photograph one of the most original wedding I’ve ever went to. The wedding of Marian and Daniel, under the Halloween theme! I don’t know if they wanted to keep it a secret to me or if they only forgot to mention it when we first met… lol We saw each others in a Zoom meeting first and in person for their engagement shoot a few months after.. so I guess it was intended as a surprise! Also, what a surprise it was to see Marian’s beautiful black dress when I got to her parents home. It was right in front of the entrance and I understood only then what the theme of the day was!

Daniel’s suit was custom made by Suitablee. I really loved the color!

First Look at Chateau St-Ambroise

The couple wanted to see each other before the ceremony. What better way than to do a first look at the L’Ambroisie? I loved their first look, I was so touched by all of their emotions! Right after they saw each other, we did photos with the bridal party. Marian had 2 «bridesmen» haha and 4 bridesmaids. We also wanted to do all the pictures with the couple only, before the ceremony. But things were running a bit late due to unforeseen events, so luckily, we had a buffer after the ceremony to take those.

It’s no exaggeration to say it was windy and not so warm either.. but the ceremony took place outside as expected, under a beautiful sun. The exchange of vows was so touching! I learned a bit more about the couple and these two are definitely made for each other. After 10 years of being together, there is still so much love in their eyes. As if they met yesterday!

The newlyweds practiced their first dance in front of the Espace Canal. Marian then decided she wanted to be in her second dress to make their great entrance for the evening. The first dance was right after the entrance and she wanted to be more comfortable.

I guess that having done the engagement shoot, a few months before the wedding, helped them feel at ease in front of the camera. They got to know how I work and trusted me with the results. I almost never had to tell them what to do. Miguel, my assistant, was also a videographer for the day and was so happy with the footage he got.

I’m not sure if I ever saw a theme so well executed and with such good taste! The couple’s love for Halloween was obvious and It was amazing to see and discover so many details everywhere! Marian made the stationery herself, being a graphic designer. All the beautiful flowers and arrangements were created by Decor and More Events Montreal and they really delivered! Right on time before the ceremony, so that everything would be ready for cocktail hour!

The evening was smooth, with touching speeches, the shoe game and dances! The bride and groom even thanked me in their speech, which always surprises me when it happens. It made a bit emotional : my eyes became watery haha! Marian and Dan, I can never thank you enough for the trust you have placed in Miguel and I for your great day!
