Wedding at the Royal Laurentian Golf Course and Chalets: N+J

Wedding photographer at Chalet Inukshuk of Royal Laurentian Golf

It was last August, in the backyard of a chalet at the Royal Laurentien resort. Jérémy and Nathalie were married in front of a few close friends and family. First of all, I should mention that it was a very hot and humid day. In fact, the ideas they had for celebrating their love couldn't have been more fitting. A groom without a jacket, children and a grandfather in sandals, and a private beach behind the chalet. Not to mention a go-kart ride to explore the nearby golf course. A golf course that I think is among the most beautiful in Quebec, and especially in the Laurentians! So, I started the day by photographing the accessories in the bride's room, in the largest chalet on the resort. Then I joined Jérémy, who was getting ready with his sons and family in the chalet next door, rented by his brother.

A true "backyard wedding" at Chalets Royal Laurentien

As my first backyard wedding I couldn't have asked for more. With a breathtaking view of the private lake and surrounding mountains, it was truly beautiful! Masterfully led by the officiant Dominique Spénard, the ceremony was beautiful, moving, funny and touching. The lovers having gotten engaged nine years before, it was time for them to say YES haha! I must say that in the meantime, they had three perfect children who always smiled when they saw me! I remember part of Jeremy's vows which said: "I am lucky because I found MY person 12 years ago already"

So we took advantage of the cocktail hour to go for a go-kart ride. An organizer from the Golf Royal Laurentien accompanied us and led the way for our trio of go-karts. She knew exactly where to find the most beautiful places for me to photograph the bride and groom. Since the golf course is really big, I could have spent hours there taking pictures of the couple, the Laurentians are so beautiful!

A dinner with a food truck

Since their wedding was unconventional, the couple brought in the food truck from Pierino Gelato Laval for dinner. With a menu featuring several small courses, I also ended the day with ice cream! What did I love about my day in short? Laughing with the bride and groom, especially at how hot it was! I also loved the bride's custom-made dress by The Coup de Foudre shop. Then the dressing of the groom and the three boys. The superb bouquets of flowers made by She loves flowers as well as the beautiful cake of Anouk's Delights. Not to mention the food truck and especially the magnificent macramé arch made by the bride herself! All things that made this wedding unique and memorable!

Wedding at the Bullerie in St-Joseph-du-Lac

a bride and groom walking at the Bullerie in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac

Last July, I attended one of my favorite weddings of 2021 at La Bullerie in St-Joseph-du-Lac! Fabian and Sarah's wedding. My boyfriend and faithful assistant accompanied me for the day.

I really liked the flowers from the Domaine de Venusia!

      The Bubble House

The couple met in 2016 when Fabian was living in Paris. During a visit to Montreal in February of that year, Fabian met Sarah at a brunch with mutual friends. The two were instantly smitten. Seventeen months later, Fabian moved to Montreal. Having postponed their wedding for a year, they were thrilled to finally gather with family and friends in this charming country setting. I started the day by photographing Fabian getting ready in Montreal. His groomsmen couldn't travel from France to Quebec due to pandemic restrictions, so Fabian had the brilliant idea of getting ready with them virtually via Zoom using an iPad! I then headed to Sarah's sister's house in Laval, where the bride's parents, bridesmaids, and niece/nephew were getting ready. What an unforgettable moment it was! So memorable for me. Good humor was present, emotion, happiness, everything!

The next 17 photos, up to Sarah's portrait in the window, were taken in 9 minutes flat! All these emotions... that's why I do this job! I found this moment incredible. It went by so quickly and I was very happy to capture it in photos. I think you can really feel the excitement of everyone present for this wedding that was finally happening! The girls started dancing to the background music.

A first look at the Bullerie

Fabian and Sarah wanted to see each other before the ceremony, so we decided to do a "first look" at the Bullerie. The vines were in the strong sun, so the challenge was to find a place in the shade. It was a question of seeing the reactions of the bride and groom when they were facing each other. Sarah and Fabian wanted to spend part of the cocktail with their guests, so we did the photos in two parts: before and after the ceremony.

An unexpected outdoor ceremony at La Bullerie

Shortly before the ceremony, thunder was rumbling and the sky was threatening when looking into the distance. It was sunny and warm and then everything became cloudy when the ceremony began. Lucky, in a way, because the bride and groom would have been in the bright sun and would have been very hot! While the light was perfect for the photos, all along the celebration. A touching, beautiful ceremony and celebrated by a man I love very much: Robert FrigaultIn fact, I had recommended her services to the bride and groom! Once the rings were exchanged and everything, the rain started to fall heavily just as the newlyweds walked down the aisle to signify the end of the ceremony. Part of the cocktail hour therefore took place under the tent because it was impossible to go to the reception hall without getting completely soaked.

The rain fell for about half an hour, giving way to an almost too-beautiful light afterwards. We were able to take photos with the families and the wedding procession among the estate's beautiful vineyards.

A festive wedding reception at the Bullerie

Having spent part of the cocktail hour under the ceremony tent, I wasn't able to take photos of the decorations that showed the entire room. There were people there when I arrived, so I only managed to take a few pictures of the decor. However, I really loved the room: very bright and quite spacious, with a beautiful view of the grounds. The rustic tables and chairs were enhanced by the Domaine de Venusia's decor. They were also the ones who provided the arch for the ceremony! What talent!

At this time of the pandemic, dancing was not really allowed, so people often got up to dance at their tables. The atmosphere was festive and good-natured.
