StoneHaven the Manor – Wedding – J+M

J & M's wedding took place last May at the majestic StoneHaven le Manoir, nestled in the Laurentian Mountains in Ste-Agathe. I had long wanted to photograph a wedding at this location, which has been part of Relais & Châteaux of Canada since 2021.

    wedding at Stonehaven Manor

I met the couple several years ago when they hired me to immortalize M's first pregnancy and the first days of their eldest daughter. I then saw them again for two more sessions when they had their youngest daughter. We laughed so much at each session, quickly realizing that we had the same sense of humor. So it was only natural that M contacted me in advance to find out my availability, even before booking StoneHaven Manor!

The couple wanted to keep the event private, so they agreed to let me publish photos where no one could be recognized. When I have this request (it happens very occasionally), I respect the bride and groom's decision. I understand that they want to keep it to themselves, but at the same time, it makes my heart sink. I already knew that the day would be superb...! So I started with the groom's preparations and then went to join the bride at their home. And then, hop, to the church for the ceremony!

Once the ceremony in Ville St-Laurent was over, it was off to StoneHaven le Manoir in Sainte-Agathe. The ceremony was scheduled for early in the afternoon to allow enough travel time to get to the Laurentians. There, the couple/family photos could be taken at the Manoir. The planning of the day, the styling, and the floral design were masterfully handled by Myriam and her team. Myriades & Co.

Built at the beginning of the 2th century, the Manor is full of history and Quebec heritage. There are so many small details in every place you walk. From the back terrace, you can see a splendid view of the Laurentian Mountains and Lac des Sables. The magnificent reception hall or ballroom was enhanced by Myriades & Co, in addition to all the original woodwork and stained glass windows. The bride and groom had nothing to worry about being in such good hands and the entire day went perfectly.

At the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant Wedding/Wedding by C+L

Chloé and Louis chose to get married last fall at the Grand Lodge in Mont-Tremblant. The couple chose THE perfect weekend to say "I do" in the Mont-Tremblant region. It was early October, and at this time of year, the trees in the Laurentians have already started to change color. The couple met in 2018, after chatting a bit on Tinder. Their first meeting lasted eight hours. It took place in a brasserie, and they closed the place because the conversations were flowing freely between them! They complement each other perfectly and get along wonderfully. On their big day, they looked at each other as if they were discovering each other all over again, their hearts in their eyes! Here's a glimpse of their perfect day, from the beginning of the preparations to the dancing in the evening.

The weather was wonderful for an outdoor ceremony, in front of the magnificent Lake Ouimet. We could see the trees bursting with color on the other shore during the ceremony. It was splendid. With a warm autumn sun, the bride and groom couldn't have asked for more. Celebrated by a very close friend of Louis, the ceremony was beautiful, touching, funny, and filled with love and emotion.

Once the ceremony was over, we were able to take advantage of the beautiful light at the end of the day to take pictures of the couple. I thank them greatly for their availability and openness in wanting to take their time to have photos in several different places. Moreover, when you think about it, couple photos are pretty much the only time of the day when the bride and groom are alone together. Apart from my presence and that of my assistant of course haha! Also, it's a moment to digest the range of emotions that a ceremony can bring to life.

We had asked the bridal party to join us at a specific time to take pictures with the bride and groom. I've noticed that in recent years, couples are open to doing things differently, to no longer following traditions. While Louis had 4 groomsmen (including his brother), Chloe only had one bridesmaid, her sister. And it was perfect that way. It's okay not to have the same number of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Or not to have any bridesmaids and groomsmen. It doesn't offend anyone haha.

Festive evening at the Grand Lodge

The guests and the bride and groom's families were very friendly, making the evening a festive one. With a few speeches, games, the cake cutting, and dancing, it flew by in no time. Often, my cue to leave is when the dance floor is full. I take pictures for 10-15 minutes, and that's enough. Then it's time to leave and return to Montreal, my head full of beautiful memories of the day. And above all, I'm very happy to have been with the bride and groom to immortalize this day that was so important to them!

        Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant Wedding C + Y

Catherine and Yannick tied the knot at the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant last February. Avid winter sports enthusiasts, a snow wedding was a natural choice for them. It also allowed them to gather friends and family for a weekend at a hotel in Tremblant. And weddings go by so quickly that it's truly wonderful to see loved ones both the day before and the day after the big day. In fact, this is one of Catherine's recommendations to all future brides and grooms: to stretch it out as long as possible to truly savor the moment. The couple had even planned a brunch for Sunday morning—not too early, haha!

First look at the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant with the bride and groom's daughters

The lovers got ready in rooms close to each other. The day before the wedding, I had a flash that it could be fantastic to do a first look as a family! That is to say with the bride and groom's daughters and themselves. Since the weather was quite mild, the snow had melted in places. So we decided "on the spot" that we would take the first look photos right after leaving the rooms, outside. Catherine only had to go through the sliding door of her room to join Yannick and the girls, who were waiting for her with their backs to her. The second photo below is everything I had imagined when doing this with the children: wonder and emotion!

Ceremony at the Church of Saint-Faustin

Since in winter, the sun sets early, we took the official photos with the bride and groom and the procession before the ceremony. Less stress in the carpet because the bride and groom had seen each other just before, we went to the Church of St-Faustin in Mont-Blanc. I have already been to this church several years ago. I did not remember it being so beautiful and so grandiose! Built at the end of the 19th century, the church is rich in details with all its columns and stained glass windows. And, by the way, over the years, I have often noticed that by doing a first look, the bride and groom can better enjoy their ceremony. It is a lot of emotions at the same time, but often the groom is as excited to see his future wife walk down the aisle as if he had not taken the photos with her just before.

Reception at the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant

I will never stop saying how much I LOVE winter weddings. It's beautiful, it's magical and it's out of the ordinary! In addition, the temperature was perfect, milder than normal. It wasn't sunny but it's better in my opinion for taking outdoor photos. Catherine and Yannick knew how to surround themselves with great suppliers for the occasion. Cooperation was easy with them. Communication is the basis when you work with people you see for the first or second time and everything was perfect with them. Special mention to the dessert table made by Flour and Chocolate. I couldn't stop looking at it and taking pictures of it hahaha! I love the symmetry! The decor set up and coordination was done by Miss F, the smiling Cynthia accompanied by her sister for the occasion. And then what about the bride and groom's outfits? Catherine found her dress at White Space of Whites and Yannick's outfit personalized and handmade by Surmesur.

He knew how to capture the attention of the many guests with a fiery animation. He also made some games by involving not only the bride and groom but sometimes only their guests. Catherine and Yannick were able to enjoy the moment, realizing how well surrounded they are. I left them after having spent twelve hours with them! And then I wasn't even tired! Just a little "electrified" to have been able to witness such a beautiful day!

Wedding photographer in the Laurentians at Balmoral Golf

Aurélie and Julien-Carl's Laurentian wedding couldn't have been more perfect. Beautiful and elegant, it was also funny and moving at times. They said "I do" last July in front of family and friends. When I met with the couple a few months before the big day, almost everything was already well planned. They got ready in separate chalets at the Fiddler Lake Resort in Morin-Heights. The chalets were large, with several bedrooms, which was perfect for them and their wedding party, since they arrived the day before.

So I went to see the guys first. They were getting dressed less than five minutes from the bride's chalet. Julien-Carl surrounded himself with his two brothers and his three best friends for this big day. And I have to admit, it was one of the times I laughed the most in my life, during the preparations. Their great camaraderie was evident; it was one funny thing after another. They were as comfortable with each other as they were in front of my camera! I could have added many more photos of them to this post, but some photos are less "publishable" than others on the internet, haha!

Wedding ceremony in the Laurentians, at Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard Church

The bride and groom absolutely wanted to have their ceremony in a church and they chose one that had a lot of history. Built over a century ago, it was at the Saint-Adolphe-D'Howard Church that they said I DO. The priest was particularly happy to be able to celebrate their union because ceremonies are being held less and less in churches, let's be honest. But I love architecture! And religious ceremonies give me the opportunity to discover lots of superb heritage buildings all over Quebec.

Once we arrived at Golf Balmoral for the reception, we immediately started taking family photos. Since the bride and groom wanted to enjoy the cocktail party and take pictures with their guests, we didn't have time to waste haha. We also took a few pictures with the wedding party and then headed to the golf karts. They were waiting for us for a nice ride on the huge grounds. When we got back from the photos of the lovers, we even ran into Robert Charlebois who said a nice hello to the newlyweds!

Carol-Ann and Chris got married at the Grand Lodge Tremblant, in the heart of the Laurentians, last December. I couldn't have dreamed of a more beautiful wedding to end this crazy year! A year in which I've never been so busy. Filled with laughter, love, and happiness, 2022 kept me on my toes right up until Christmas Eve! Even without snow, everything screamed winter wedding on that magnificent day of December 10th. From the decorations to the centerpieces to the groom's attire: the Christmas spirit was everywhere! Here's a glimpse of their preparations at the hotel.

Located on the ground floor of the Grand Lodge, the Borivage restaurant was transformed into a beautiful wedding ceremony venue. Carol-Ann wanted Chris to see her for the first time during the ceremony, and it was well worth the wait! He shed a few tears; she had a huge smile on her face.

A snowless winter wedding at the Grand Lodge Tremblant

The only time I like snow in winter is when I'm taking pictures of people standing in it, haha! And that was the only thing missing from this wedding. It just goes to show, you can never predict the weather… But it was so cold during the couple's outdoor photoshoot, I thought they were amazing to persevere! The newlyweds were brave enough to venture into the woods right next to the Grand Lodge. I love that place: La Pinède! I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the woods in the darkness of night. It was even a little unnerving walking in the dark. We had a good laugh telling each other stories from scary movies, lol!

The Borivage of the Grand Lodge Tremblant transformed!

The Borivage restaurant was transformed during the cocktail hour. They only had 30 to 40 minutes to turn everything into a wedding reception hall! And what a success! Unfortunately, everyone was already seated when I came back inside from the cold. So I wasn't able to photograph the decor without guests. The evening was festive, with speeches and laughter. I even had time to take photos of the bouquet toss and the garter toss before heading back to Montreal! So happy with my day spent with the bride and groom and their guests!

married couple at Jude Pomme in Oka

Melissa and Jonathan got married in the beautiful orchards of Jude Pomme in Oka in the summer of 2019. It was one of my favorite weddings of the year! Why? For several reasons! First of all, it was very rustic and country-style: the decorations, mostly done by the bride's mother, were perfect! I loved Melissa and Jonathan's kindness, their good humor, their jokes and laughter, and Melissa's dress (from Jude Pomme). Vézina Creations) and the guys' outfits, the procession that kept making me laugh, Melissa's "bridesman" or man of honor, the flowers, in short, pretty much all the choices they made to have their perfect day!

Melissa was really keen to have her first look with her dad. We had to find a spot where the guests wouldn't see the bride get out of the car. So we retreated to the shade of the barn so father and daughter could see each other privately. And it was so touching! Melissa's father was so proud of his daughter and even got a little teary-eyed!

The ceremony in the orchards of Jude Apple in Oka

The couple, together since 2008, said "I do" in the beautiful orchards of Jude Pomme. It was incredibly funny and touching at the same time. Also, I have to admit that over the years, I've seen fewer and fewer church weddings. And I find that ceremonies are much more personalized and intimate now. Just like the couple themselves. But at the same time, a church is SO BEAUTIFUL!

Right after the group photo, we went for a walk in the orchard to take family and wedding party photos. What an enchanting setting Oka is! I find the region truly magnificent! Melissa was determined to take photos in one of the small wooded areas on the vast grounds of Jude Pomme. And what a great idea! We were in the shade, and there was a light breeze. I won't lie, it felt amazing to stop being so hot for a little while, haha!

Once again, I was impressed by all the effort the bride and groom and Melissa's mother put into personalizing the decorations! Several spots featured photo frames, keepsakes, and cute little accessories. Ultimately, the evening unfolded in a joyful atmosphere, a sure sign that the couple knows how to surround themselves with the right people!
