Wedding at La Distinction in Joliette / S + K

Katia and Samuel's wedding took place at La Distinction in Joliette last fall. I started the day by joining the bride and her bridesmaids who were getting ready at Château Joliette. They had gone earlier that day to Trendy Fashion and Beauty Salon Studio to get my hair done. And then Ladda Makeup Artist had come for makeup. When I saw Katia's espadrilles and her dress, I immediately knew she would have a crazy, confident, romantic and elegant style and I loved it!

The bride's stunning dress was found at Nadia Castle and the bridesmaids' dresses at the Dream Shop on St-Hubert Street in Montreal. I really liked the selection of dresses. Plus, Katia was able to remove the sleeves of her dress in the evening, so she would be more comfortable dancing.

A few minutes before the ceremony, I went to join Samuel, who was with Cameron and the other guests who had arrived. I wanted to take a few pictures of the two of them together, even though Samuel was pretty nervous, haha. There's nothing like the stress before a wedding ceremony, having seen it so many times! And I often try to throw in little jokes to make people laugh and lighten the mood.

Outdoor ceremony on Distinction Island in Joliette

It was on the small island of La Distinction that the couple's beautiful and touching ceremony took place. Plan B, in case it got too cold, was the covered terrace with heating. Fortunately, that Thanksgiving weekend was one of the most beautiful of the fall. Katia and Samuel's wedding was my third in a row that weekend, and THANK GOODNESS the weather was beautiful all weekend! Being in Lanaudière, the vibrant fall colors were already in full bloom on the many trees of La Distinction's vast grounds. I learned that the couple met at work in 2013 and were initially friends before gradually developing feelings for each other. But it still took three years, so let's just say they knew each other very well when they started dating. When she was pregnant with Cameron in 2023, the big proposal finally came, and they were married two years later, to the day!

We started the couple photos right after the ceremony because we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful light, the bridges without people on them, and the fact that the next ceremony had not yet started.

I love the couple's photos of the bride and groom so much. You can see they're in love! They're so natural in front of the camera, as if I wasn't even there, and you can really feel their connection.

The reception in the Alto Room at La Distinction in Joliette

The Alto reception hall, located on the ground floor of the building, was decorated simply with touches of green. This echoed the groom's attire, the wedding party's outfits, and Katia's flowers. The guests, delighted to celebrate with the happy couple, were all thrilled for them. There were games and beautiful, touching speeches throughout the evening. My day ended after the newlyweds' first dance with their little Cameron, followed by dancing for all the guests.

The Distinction of Joliette – MJ + J's Wedding

Marie-Jacques and Joël's wedding took place at La Distinction in Joliette, early last fall. It was a unique wedding, filled with emotion, laughter, and complicity. It must be said that the bride and groom brought together their loved ones, and everyone seemed to know each other so well. The couple has a unifying spirit, and this is evident in their wedding photos.

I started the day with the guys getting ready at Joël's parents' house in Joliette. I had a lot of fun with them because everyone was looking forward to the day with good humor and lots of jokes. I like to mix up the preps for my wedding posts. So I then found myself at the Château Joliette for the bride's preparations. And then that's when I was surprised to see her wedding dress, which was black!

Marie-Jacques often wears black and rarely white. This is one of the reasons she chose a dress that was unique and reflected her personality. She rocked the look perfectly, with her numerous tattoos and all the different details she had thought of for her big day.

Ceremony on the Island of Distinction

Once the bride's preparations were photographed, we headed to La Distinction which is a mere 7 minutes by car from the Château Joliette Hotel! The guests were waiting for the wedding ceremony on the small island of the rural setting. The island was bathed in the perfect light to celebrate the union of lovers. I couldn't have asked for better lighting. Plus, colorful leaves were beginning to appear on the trees.

The couple's two children welcomed the ceremony with great emotion. They were touched that their parents were finally united, and it was as if they realized, at that moment, the magnitude of their gesture. Many tears were shed, and it was truly moving to see them!

After all the excitement and the ceremony was over, I left for the couple's photos alone, to enjoy the enchanting location. Then, I took some photos with their families and the entire wedding party.

Reception in the Soprano Room at La Distinction

The wedding reception took place in the cozy La Soprano room, decorated all in black and gold. The chic decor was created by David Lavallée of Master D Productions. The same ones who were there as MC/DJ for the occasion. The evening went by in a flash with several speeches from the couple's parents as well as their groomsmen/maids. The atmosphere was festive and everyone was so happy to be there with the bride and groom to celebrate their union. I even felt like I was one of "their" people, everyone was so kind and friendly.

I left the party as the bride was on speaker haha, so that was kind of my 'cue' to leave haha!
