Wedding at the William Gray Hotel – Belle + Simon

wedding photographer hotel willam gray montreal 01

Belle and Simon chose the Hotel William Gray in Old Montreal for their wedding reception. Their wedding took place last fall, at the end of October, and it was my last wedding of the year. I couldn't have asked for a better way to end a 2025 filled with so many beautiful weddings! The couple wasn't particularly keen on having photos taken during their preparations, so I joined them at the hotel around lunchtime. They opted for a first look before taking photos with their families and then their couple's portraits in Old Montreal. The first look took place on the magnificent staircase of the William Gray. I think I managed to capture the perfect expression on Simon's face when he saw his bride for the first time. She surprised him with a non-traditional, colorful, and sparkling dress!

I thought Belle's parents were brave to have arrived from Taiwan just a few days before the wedding. It wasn't warm that day, and there was quite a temperature difference between Taiwan and Montreal! They were able to take photos without coats even though they were a bit cold. My assistant was holding everyone's coats at one point; his arms were full of them, haha!

Once the family photos were taken, we went for a walk not far from the William Gray to take the couple's photos. I thought the couple was so incredibly cute, interacting with each other. Funny, generous, open, and expressive!

The ceremony at St. Patrick's Basilica

Located in downtown Montreal, the Basilica was built in 1847. And it's MAGNIFICENT! Surprisingly, it was my first time there! The couple, very religious, often went on Sundays to celebrate Mass. And they always envisioned having their wedding ceremony there. I completely understand them; St. Patrick's Basilica is grand and overflowing with countless details!

Since we were essentially Ubers for the bride and groom, hahaha, we made a quick detour behind Montreal City Hall to snap a few quick photos of the newlyweds. We were a little short on time before the ceremony, so we made up for it with the beautiful fall colors in the trees!

Cocktail at the Hotel William Gray and the advantages of a first look

The advantage of having a first look is that the bride and groom can be present at the cocktail hour. I completely understand their desire to be there. If I were getting married, I would want to do the same. The cocktail hour was held outside the Edward Room, the reception hall for the bride and groom. Another advantage of taking photos before the ceremony is that you can take advantage of the beautiful afternoon light in autumn. Whereas on this last weekend of October, the light was fading quickly. The third advantage is that if there are any delays during the preparations, you can always catch up by taking a second set of couple photos. I also often feel that there is less stress for the bride and groom when they see each other before the ceremony and have their photos taken. They also get to spend more time together on this incredibly important day in their lives!

The wedding reception at the William Gray Hotel

It is DJ DK The bride's sister, who was in charge of the music, provided the entertainment for the lovely evening at the William Gray Hotel. The guests were all delighted to be there to celebrate with the newlyweds. There were several touching speeches, which brought tears to a few eyes in the reception hall. The bride and groom had also set up several stations to keep the guests entertained, just in case there were any lulls—but there weren't any, haha! There was a table for doing a puzzle and another for making little bracelets. I thought it was such a thoughtful touch from the bride and groom!

The newlyweds went from table to table to say "cheers" to their guests. We took the opportunity to take photos with each table. One normal photo, all smiles, and then another, a bit funnier. I always enjoy taking these kinds of photos with guests. You see another side of them, and I find it amusing.

Since the stairs at the Basilica weren't very large for the group photo, we took advantage of the grand staircase at the William Gray Hotel to take it in the evening. At one point, my assistant and I wondered if the staircase would hold up, haha! Luckily, it did! And then, once the meal and games were over, the dancing began. The bride and groom didn't really want to have a first dance, but they managed to get everyone onto the dance floor and let loose.

Cabaret Lion d'Or in Montreal – R + T LGBT Wedding

wedding old port montreal wedding 01

Tami and Rachel chose the Cabaret Lion d'Or in Montreal for their wedding last October. A couple since 2021, the two complement each other so well; it was a real joy for me to photograph their wedding. I'm still pinching myself at how much fun I had with them and their loved ones!

The bridesmaids weren't keen on having photos taken during their preparations. But when I learned they had rented an Airbnb in Old Montreal, I offered to meet them there when they were ready. The couple absolutely wanted photos in nature and hadn't considered, when renting the apartment, that some of their couple's photos would be taken there. So Tami went downstairs first to take some portraits and photos with her wedding party before having a first look with her sweetheart. The couple hadn't yet envisioned themselves as brides! Dressed by SuitableIn a custom-made outfit, she looked incredibly chic!

And what a first look it was! Tami's jaw dropped when she saw her sweetheart arrive behind her! The first look is such an emotional and exciting moment! They didn't regret doing it at all!

Tami's boutonniere, Rachel's wedding bouquet, and the floral arrangements at the reception were created by The Floret Flowers located in Verdun. I think the colors of the girls' dresses, outfits, and flowers make for a very beautiful color scheme. It really represents fall weddings, in my opinion! After the first look, we continued with photos of the bridal party and some photos with the brides in Old Montreal. Very close to the apartment rented for the occasion is the magnificent building of St. James TheatreFortunately, it was unoccupied at that time and we were able to take many photos in a short amount of time.

A quick stop before the Cabaret Lion d'Or!

The initial plan was to go to Lafontaine Park for the couple's photos, so we had a schedule to keep, haha! We then loaded the brides into our car to act as Ubers, haha! It was while we were on our way there that I saw the magnificent trees behind Montreal City Hall in Champ-de-Mars Park. I quickly suggested to the girls that we go there since it was already October 18th and the fall colours were still to come in at Lafontaine Park. I had checked the day before by going there myself. On the day of the wedding, I found the trees in Champ-de-Mars to be much more beautiful than those in the Plateau. It must depend on the species of tree; some take a little longer than others to turn colour. But I really appreciated the couple's flexibility because there are often unexpected things that happen on a wedding day, and you have to be able to adapt. What we hadn't anticipated, however, was the biting cold/wind that we weren't used to yet, so it was a good excuse for them to snuggle up!

Wedding ceremony at the Cabaret Lion d'Or

When the bride and groom saw the Cabaret Lion d'Or, they knew immediately that it was the perfect venue to celebrate their ceremony and, consequently, hold their reception there in the evening. Since they are of different faiths (Catholic and Jewish), the bright and airy stage was ideal for their ceremony.

It was right after the couple's photos, upon arriving at the Cabaret, that I saw the magnificent room, decorated and all ready. We arrived five minutes before the chairs were moved for the ceremony. I was lucky, I have to admit! Fifteen minutes later, everything was set up for the ceremony. Then, at the cocktail hour, there would have been guests everywhere, and that would have made things a bit difficult for me, haha! Taking photos of the room's decorations is something that I think is very important. So I always make sure I can photograph the rooms before the guests arrive!

The Art Deco-inspired decor and lighting made the ceremony truly theatrical and magnificent! You should have seen Tamy's face when Rachel arrived! It was as if they hadn't seen each other just moments before, when they were together in the dressing room in the basement! They were beautiful, and their eyes truly shone with happiness!

A fantastic wedding reception!

The cocktail hour having been short, the atmosphere quickly became festive when the brides made their official "entrance" to the music of DJ Or from ANDR MusicWith lots of dancing at the beginning of the reception, it set the tone for the evening ahead. And we weren't bored for a second! With moving speeches that deeply touched me—I even shed a tear, something that never happens to me—the events flowed seamlessly. It was festive, heartfelt, beautiful, and everyone was happy and delighted to be there on this wonderful day! I adored the brides: their big hearts, kindness, thoughtful touches, and good humor made it all go by far too quickly!

Manoir Davis – Wedding in the Laurentians

Katherine and Jeanne's wedding at Davis Manor took place last January. I couldn't have asked for a better first wedding of the season to kick off 2025. Everything went perfectly: from the beginning of the preparations to the dancing in the evening. And all this in a cool and relaxed atmosphere, but a little frenetic due to the excitement of everyone present! Convinced in advance that I was going to have a great time with the couple and their guests, I was really looking forward to meeting them in person. We had had two meetings via Zoom and we really hit it off. So I was anticipating the day and I was sure that everything was going to be impeccable, even before I arrived!

The goal of the day was to have a great time, in the presence of everyone. I didn't really want Jeanne and her daughters to take care of me and my camera haha. It was a question of having photos taken on the spot and full of emotion. There are always "classic" photos to take, but the lovers and I didn't want it to be too "posed", all day long.

First Look at Davis Manor

I was very excited to visit the Davis Manor for the first time. Open since 2022, it's perfect for intimate weddings. The Manor is becoming more and more popular each year as word gets around that it's a magnificent venue for various celebrations. The brides had booked it for four full days of celebration. With six bedrooms and a large room that can accommodate several beds, the Manor was perfect for the number of guests they had. I had seen some photos online and I must admit I fell in love with the majestic and magnificent main staircase. Built in 1910, the staircase is a true masterpiece. Bathed in light from the huge window at the top, we decided to have our first look there.

After the touching first look where the brides saw each other for the first time (even I was a little emotional), we went outside, in the snow. I can never express my love for winter weddings enough. I hate snow hahaha, I only like it when I take pictures of people in front of it or in it lol! Plus, we were really lucky with the weather. Because the day before the wedding (which was a Friday), it felt like -24 with the wind! On the day itself, we were able to enjoy a nice little -6 degrees, without wind! And the next day, Saturday, the mercury was back at -26 Celsius with the wind! It's like they chose to get married on a Friday because they had a feeling of what would be ideal, temperature-wise. The girls were able to take off their coats, a good part of the couple session outside. What bliss!

We had a lot of fun outside. Miguel, my boyfriend and assistant, held the coats for the girls when they were warm enough to take them off. I will always remember him running with the 2 bouquets and the coats in his arms, to go and close the front door behind the brides haha! I was laughing my head off. It was something to see! I took a picture of it but it is not good enough to post. The girls, not wanting static pictures, had a lot of ideas to move and have fun. I have to say that I think they are perfect together, making each other laugh and knowing what to do to get the other one moving and make her giggle.

The indoor ceremony at Davis Manor

The ceremony took place inside the Davis Manor, in the main room that would later serve as the reception. Celebrated by a good friend of the couple, the ceremony was brief but touching, beautiful and in the image of the brides. I was happy to see that there was still a lot of outside light entering the Manor even though it was 4pm. I was able to take the photos without flash, for a warm and cozy atmosphere.

The magnificent decoration of the ceremony and reception, as well as the brides' bouquets are the work of Isodora de Be Host Events. I saw her at work during the day and I have to say that Isodora creates magic in a short time. After the ceremony, the room was converted into a reception area. She created a cozy, warm and chic atmosphere while highlighting the Davis Manor.

An intimate reception at Davis Manor

Once the room was transformed and cocktail hour had passed, the wonderful MC Robert Applyrs from The Applyrs Xperience and Dj Kamistry were waiting for the brides and guests to continue the party. Robert is dynamic, funny and super nice. He is an approachable guy who likes to have fun with the guests. He does not hesitate, for example, to dance with them. Let's just say that this pair of friends knows how to get a room up! There were a few games and speeches before the end of dinner. We took advantage of the time when the tables were cleared to go outside with everyone and take pictures with sparklers. It was really a beautiful moment. There were a few dances before the brides presented their choreography (prepared in secret). The dance floor filled up, so it was time for me to leave and return to Montreal. In the car, I realized that my boyfriend and I were lucky to have such beautiful days. The brides had given us a special place among their loved ones!

At L'Ambroisie Espace Canal – Wedding of M + D

Wedding photographer at Ambroisie Espace Canal

It was at L'Ambroisie Espace Canal last October that I had the chance to photograph one of the most original weddings I've ever had the pleasure of attending! Marian and Daniel's, with a Halloween theme! I don't know if they were keeping it a surprise or if they simply forgot to mention it during our first meeting, haha. We first met via video conference, then in person for their engagement photoshoot a few months later. And I was really looking forward to their wedding, as we were close and made a wonderful couple, so attentive to each other. And what a surprise it was to discover the beautiful black dress (taken at the Mariclod Shop) from Marian, when arriving at her parents' house on the wedding day! She was waiting for me in the entrance of the house haha!

A First Look in front of Ambrosia

The couple wanted a "first look" before the ceremony. What better place than Château St-Ambroise, across from the Ambrosia! I loved that moment; they were so emotional and touching! Right after, we took photos with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Marian had two groomsmen and three bridesmaids, which I've been seeing more and more in recent years. We had initially planned to take all the couple's photos before the ceremony. But some unforeseen circumstances caused delays, so luckily, we had some time to take some after the ceremony as well.

I'm not exaggerating when I say it was incredibly windy that day and not very warm for the bride! But the ceremony took place outdoors, as planned, under a radiant sun! I got to know the couple better, and it became clear then that they were meant for each other! After ten years together, their eyes still sparkle with love.

The newlyweds practiced their first dance in front of the majestic staircase of Espace Canal. I think that having the engagement photoshoot a few months before the wedding helped them feel comfortable in front of the camera. They were able to see my working style and how I guided them, and they trusted me with the results. I hardly ever had to tell them what to do or how to pose. Miguel, my assistant and boyfriend, was also the videographer for the day, and he was thrilled with the footage he shot!

I'm not sure I've ever seen a theme so well executed and meticulously planned! The couple's love for Halloween was evident, and it was incredible to discover so many details everywhere! Marian, a graphic designer by trade, created the stationery herself and added her personal touch to everything. Wedding at the Auberge Le Baluchon – A + N

Wedding photographer at the Auberge Le Baluchon in Saint-Paulin

Alexandra and Nicolas' wedding took place at Auberge Le Baluchon last September. The Auberge is located in Saint-Paulin, not far from Trois-Rivières, if you don't know it. Alexandra contacted me more than a year in advance to make sure I was available for her wedding and I was happy to be. Since fall is a beautiful time to celebrate your wedding, there are dates that always fly away very quickly! And the season is always busy. Getting married at Auberge le Baluchon has the advantage of doing everything in the same place: the preparation, the ceremony and the reception. Plus, it's huge and full of places to take pictures.

When I arrived, I went to join Alexandra in her room to photograph her accessories. That is to say: her wedding dress, her shoes, the wedding invitation, the rings and the flowers. Since Nicolas' room was 10 steps from hers, I alternated between the two. Because even if we plan to the minute, there are always unexpected things that happen. And the advantage of getting ready near each other is that if, for example, a groomsman is missing to get dressed, I can keep myself busy while going back to see the girls.

The bride and groom wanted to see each other before the official ceremony, for a "First Look". This little intimate moment where the bride and groom can share their happiness and excitement alone together. A little before being reunited in front of all their guests. Nicolas was speechless when he saw his beautiful when he turned around to look at her. It was so cute and funny at the same time to see them together. Among other things, we had planned to take family and procession photos. Since the bride and groom wanted them all to enjoy the cocktail after the ceremony.

Celebrated by the bride's sister, the ceremony was just like them: funny and touching. All while not taking itself seriously. The bride and groom's son arrived with the rings, running for his life! He made all the guests laugh by eagerly giving the small chest containing the wedding rings to his dad. And then, I want to point out that the temperature was perfect for an outdoor ceremony! In addition, the leaves on the trees had already started to change color.

After the ceremony, we took a little time to take the couple photos. We had the challenge that the sun sets quickly at this time of year and then we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful light. So we rushed to walk ultra quickly to the bottom of the falls to have this magnificent landscape in photo. Besides, it was worth it, it was spectacular! I will always remember this moment!

Wedding reception at the Auberge le Baluchon

The evening went by quickly, the part where I was there anyway! Indeed, there were several speeches, games and dancing. The meal of several courses was really delicious and I also loved the room as well as the decoration that the bride and groom did there. They had everything set up the same morning because the day before, the room was occupied for a corpo!

Groom's first dance with his mother

The part I found the most moving was the first dance with the parents of the bride and groom. As they were dancing, the music continued but with Nicolas and Alexandra's voices over it. They were saying how much they loved their parents and were grateful to them, for everything they had done since they were children. I found it so touching that I became teary-eyed, like most of the guests. The bride and groom have their hearts in the right place and it shows!

Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant Wedding C + Y

Catherine and Yannick tied the knot at the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant last February. Avid winter sports enthusiasts, a snow wedding was a natural choice for them. It also allowed them to gather friends and family for a weekend at a hotel in Tremblant. And weddings go by so quickly that it's truly wonderful to see loved ones both the day before and the day after the big day. In fact, this is one of Catherine's recommendations to all future brides and grooms: to stretch it out as long as possible to truly savor the moment. The couple had even planned a brunch for Sunday morning—not too early, haha!

First look at the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant with the bride and groom's daughters

The lovers got ready in rooms close to each other. The day before the wedding, I had a flash that it could be fantastic to do a first look as a family! That is to say with the bride and groom's daughters and themselves. Since the weather was quite mild, the snow had melted in places. So we decided "on the spot" that we would take the first look photos right after leaving the rooms, outside. Catherine only had to go through the sliding door of her room to join Yannick and the girls, who were waiting for her with their backs to her. The second photo below is everything I had imagined when doing this with the children: wonder and emotion!

Ceremony at the Church of Saint-Faustin

Since in winter, the sun sets early, we took the official photos with the bride and groom and the procession before the ceremony. Less stress in the carpet because the bride and groom had seen each other just before, we went to the Church of St-Faustin in Mont-Blanc. I have already been to this church several years ago. I did not remember it being so beautiful and so grandiose! Built at the end of the 19th century, the church is rich in details with all its columns and stained glass windows. And, by the way, over the years, I have often noticed that by doing a first look, the bride and groom can better enjoy their ceremony. It is a lot of emotions at the same time, but often the groom is as excited to see his future wife walk down the aisle as if he had not taken the photos with her just before.

Reception at the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant

I will never stop saying how much I LOVE winter weddings. It's beautiful, it's magical and it's out of the ordinary! In addition, the temperature was perfect, milder than normal. It wasn't sunny but it's better in my opinion for taking outdoor photos. Catherine and Yannick knew how to surround themselves with great suppliers for the occasion. Cooperation was easy with them. Communication is the basis when you work with people you see for the first or second time and everything was perfect with them. Special mention to the dessert table made by Flour and Chocolate. I couldn't stop looking at it and taking pictures of it hahaha! I love the symmetry! The decor set up and coordination was done by Miss F, the smiling Cynthia accompanied by her sister for the occasion. And then what about the bride and groom's outfits? Catherine found her dress at White Space of Whites and Yannick's outfit personalized and handmade by Surmesur.

He knew how to capture the attention of the many guests with a fiery animation. He also made some games by involving not only the bride and groom but sometimes only their guests. Catherine and Yannick were able to enjoy the moment, realizing how well surrounded they are. I left them after having spent twelve hours with them! And then I wasn't even tired! Just a little "electrified" to have been able to witness such a beautiful day!
