Wedding at Plaza Vogue/St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral

My last wedding of 2021, Samantha and Scott's, took place at Plaza Vogue in Montreal. And what a wedding it was! At the reception, with restrictions pretty much all lifted, the guests and the bride and groom were on fire! So I went to Scott's parents' house on the South Shore of Montreal to start the day. Accompanied by my boyfriend who was filming and assisting me at the same time! You will find his video at the end of this article.

Having done an engagement photoshoot a month and a half before the wedding, I was looking forward to that day. And I'm sure the bride and groom were a little less nervous about the photos. Because we had met during our first session together and they knew a little about how I "worked" haha. Then, once the groom's preparation was finished, I headed to Samantha's mother's house. There, a very excited bride was waiting for me for her long-dreamed-of day. And which was finally coming true!

The ceremony at St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral in Longueuil
If I have only one word to describe the Cathedral of Saint Anthony of Padua, it would be WOW! How impressive and magnificent it is! Filled with stained glass windows and neo-Gothic style, it was built in the 19th century. I understand the bride and groom who wanted to celebrate their union there! If you don't know it, I advise you to go and take a little tour to admire its architecture and all the work that went into its construction.

With the procession at Parc Michel-Chartrand then towards Plaza Vogue
Since the ceremony was quite early in the afternoon, we were able to benefit from beautiful fall light for the couple and procession photos. After the family and friends photos outside the church, we went to Parc Michel-Chartrand in Longueuil. The sun sets early after October, so we had no time to lose. The bride and groom were brave enough to face the slightly cold weather that day. Earlier in the preparations, I had encouraged Samantha to bring her coat with her. And I handed mine to Scott for a short while because he was starting to get a little "chilled" towards the end of the couple photos.

The fiery reception at Plaza Vogue
The evening was memorable! And it went by in a flash! Everyone, including the bride and groom, was eager to party! There was no downtime. Because I even had a little difficulty photographing all the tables of guests because there was so much action. Several speeches from the parents, the bride and groom and the procession, games, lots of dancing, a surprise from a violinist (Kayiri which was excellent by the way!!!) hired by the entertainment team, tam tam etc. Finally, I can never say enough how important it is to have good evening planning and good entertainment. In fact, it makes all the difference between a successful evening and one that is less so.
